Prof. Roger Steare FRSA | www.rogersteare.com

In 2007, the worst financial crisis in history began to unfold and HSBC asked Roger Steare to advise their senior leadership team on how to strengthen their values, decision-making and culture. After the Gulf of Mexico disaster in 2010, BP asked Roger to help them design a new leadership programme to rebuild their culture and strengthen their values and behaviours – and Roger’s ethicability® decision-making framework is now core to the new BP Code of Conduct. And, as an advisory firm in its own right, PwC has sponsored Roger’s research into MoralDNA™ and asked Roger to advise them on how businesses can restore trust by doing the right thing. Why? Because Roger’s the grit in the oyster, challenging the dysfunctional and pathological corporate behaviours that destroy value. Business leaders describe him as a disruptive thinker, a critical friend and a trusted advisor. He asks searching questions. Why does your business exist? Who does it serve? Are you proud of being the best, or do you have the humility to strive for excellence? And do you really care? Roger invites people to stop and think in a compelling, inspiring, yet pragmatic way. Roger helps people develop good thinking, listening and dialogue. The result? His clients are now building empathic cultures where every customer, colleague and investor is truly valued as a human being. Where profit is no longer a dirty word, it is now the ethos of sustainable value for all. Roger Steare is The Corporate Philosopher.

“Roger makes the compelling case for why doing the right thing is not a function of good business, it IS good business.” Joe Garner, Deputy CEO and Head of UK Bank, HSBC
